Find a race
Open the Events tab at the bottom of the screen to see the list of races.
- Search by name or place: type in the search field at the top. You can search by race name, place or reading.
- Filter by distance: choose a distance with the buttons under the search field. To show every distance again, choose All Distances.
- Set detailed filters: use the button next to the search field to choose region, distance, month, sort order and more.
- Explore on a globe: tap the globe button to open Explore races worldwide. Spin the globe and choose a continent.
- See recommendations: races that may suit you appear under For You. It doesn't appear when there are only a few candidates.
From the menu at the top right, choose Show Past Events to see races that have finished. To refresh the list, choose Refresh Data or pull the screen down.
What you can do on a race card
Each race in the list has these buttons:
- Entry: opens the race's official website. When Opening Official Site appears, tap Open Site. You enter the race on the official website. RouteRun is not involved in the registration process.
- Reference course (unofficial): opens the course preview. You can't tap it for races without course information.
- Challenge This Race: makes the race your target race. A screen for your target time appears. Once set, the button changes to Set as Target.
- Generate Practice Route: switches to the Route & Run tab.
- Ask AI Coach: lets you ask Ayumu about preparing for the race.
- Add to Race Journey: makes the race your target and opens a screen showing your preparation up to race day.
- Bookmark button: Add to wishlist. You need to be signed in.
Preview the course
- On the race card, tap Reference course (unofficial).
- When the screen opens, a view from the sky follows the course. Landmarks along the way also appear. If you stopped this view partway before, the screen opens on a map of the whole course instead.
- Move the map to check the whole course and its elevation.
With Pro, tap Flythrough to watch a 3D view that follows the course from the sky at any time. On the free plan you see Unlock 3D Flythrough with Pro. The full guide for some landmarks is also part of Pro.
Run the course
Run the race course itself
- On the course preview, tap Run This Course.
- About this reference course (important) appears. Read it and tap I understand — start.
- The race course appears on the Route Confirmation screen. Check it, then start your run.
If your Apple Watch is connected, the course is also sent to the Watch as Event course when you start.
Practice on a similar route
On the course preview, tap Practice This Course to open route creation. It makes a route of the race distance around the race start.
Prepare everything before the race
From 7 days before your target race until the day after it, the screen opened with Add to Race Journey shows a Race Day Prep card. On the day before and on race day, it sits at the top of the screen.
- For Course, Elevation, Venue forecast, Apple Watch and Fueling plan, the card shows whether each is ready, for example Not fetched, Fetching, Couldn't fetch or Not needed.
- Tap Prepare everything to fetch all five at once. What's fetched is stored on your iPhone, so you can see it even if the signal is weak at the venue.
- If your Apple Watch is connected, the race course is also sent to the Watch. It stays available there until the day after the race. Without a Watch, that item shows Not needed.
- When all five are ready, All set appears. Use Fetch again for anything that couldn't be fetched.
