RouteRun can connect to Apple Health on your iPhone. You choose, item by item, which data to share.
First setup
- When the Apple Health Data Usage screen appears during the intro, review it and tap Continue.
- On the iPhone screen that follows, choose which items RouteRun may use.
The first time you use RouteRun on Apple Watch, the watch asks for access in the same way.
You can use RouteRun without it
You can still record and save runs without Apple Health access. In that case:
- Heart rate isn't shown. When you start a run, a notice may tell you that heart rate data is unavailable.
- Runs aren't saved to Apple Health as workouts.
Data RouteRun reads
RouteRun reads only the items you allow.
| Type | Mainly used for |
|---|---|
| Heart rate, resting heart rate, walking heart rate average, heart rate recovery | Heart rate display, heart rate zones, recovery hints |
| Distance, steps, active energy, workouts | Recording runs, importing runs from other apps |
| Running power, speed, stride length, vertical oscillation, ground contact time | Running form (data from Apple Watch) |
| VO2 max, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, sleep | Fitness and recovery hints, advice from Ayumu, the AI coach |
| Weight | Calorie calculation |
| Dietary energy, carbohydrates, protein, fat, water, sodium | Ayumu's nutrition advice |
RouteRun on Apple Watch also reads your date of birth to calculate heart rate zones.
Data RouteRun writes
When you finish a run, RouteRun saves the following to Apple Health:
- A workout (running)
- The route you ran
- Distance and active energy
- Heart rate
When you run with Apple Watch, the watch saves the workout and route to Apple Health. The run is also added to the History tab after the watch connects to your iPhone.
Change access
You can change access in your iPhone's Settings app.
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Go to Privacy & Security > Health > RouteRun.
- Turn reading and writing on or off for each item.
Import runs from other apps
You can import runs that other apps recorded in Apple Health into the History tab.
- Open the Profile tab and tap the gear button at the top right to open Settings.
- Under Privacy, open Data Management.
- Under Data Import, tap Import from Apple Health.
Runs from the past 12 months are imported. Runs recorded by RouteRun and runs already in History are skipped.
When you delete data
- Deleting a run or your account in RouteRun doesn't remove data saved in Apple Health.
- You can delete Apple Health data in the Health app.
If something doesn't work
- If heart rate doesn't appear, check with the steps above that reading heart rate is turned on.
- If runs aren't saved to Apple Health, check that writing workouts is turned on.
- If you're still stuck, email support@routerun.jp.
